"Style is everything" when it comes to creating a small car that appeals to the masses and Ford has done a good job with its latest Ford Fiesta, according to a review of the vehicle.
The North Wales Daily Post indicates that there are a range of "special" features on the inside of the new Fiesta which may appeal to drivers.
These include a leather rim steering wheel, alongside a dominant dashboard that is kitted out with numerous technology gadgets.
The reviewer highlights that a voice-activated Bluetooth sound system is present, while on its left are the buttons for the CD player and the right hosts the keypad for a phone call.
Those motorists who do not enjoy the chit-chat of radio stations could alternatively plug in their iPod to listen to their favourite tracks or insert a memory stick holding up to 2,000 songs.
Meanwhile, drivers will also be able to benefit from solid levels of steering, as the car is said to handle "beautifully" on windy roads.
The Ford Fiesta can also be bought in a range of colours including Frozen White, Moondust Silver and Panther Black.
Ford has done a successful job in combining a car offering a strong driving experience with one that has strong eco credentials with the Ford Fiesta, a reviewer has stated.
Writing for the Liverpool Daily Post, Val Jessop explains that the Ford Fiesta 1.6 Titanium can reach 120 miles per hour, while still having the capability of providing a driver with 48 miles to the gallon of fuel.
Meanwhile, the car can accelerate to 62 miles per hour from still in under ten seconds.
Ms Jessop adds that the 1.6-litre engine "becomes more spirited the harder you drive it" and even gives the impression that there is "plenty in reserve" when it is being driven at high speeds.
Alongsid having a decent on the road performance, motorists can benefit from a spacious interior, with the seats especially mentioned as being "comfortable and airy".
Other decisions made by Ford to enhance its positive impact on the environment are that recycled denim and reclaimed upholstery are used in the creation of its vehicles.
Motorists considering trading in their used Ford Focus as part of the government scrappage scheme have been told to consider the impact it may have on their car insurance first.
Great deals can be taken advantage of by motorists, as they can agree to scrap their ten-year-old used car for a £2,000 discount on a new vehicle fresh out of the showroom.
However, Mark Monteiro, insurance expert at uSwitch.com, has revealed that car insurance could significantly increase on a new vehicle.
He said: "Any motorists tempted to take advantage of the car scrappage scheme should research the cost of insuring their desired new vehicle as a matter of priority, as the cost could be significantly higher than they are currently paying for their old banger."
An example can be witnessed as a male 40-year-old driver with nine years no claims could pay 29.9 per cent more to insure a new Ford Focus compared to a 1999 Ford Focus Zetec.
According to Ford, the new Focus has bold styling which is "confident, contemporary and utterly distinctive".
The Ford Fiesta has added another accolade to its copybook after being crowned as the Best New Car at the recent Fleet World awards.
The prizes are presented annually to the vehicle that achieves the highest possible level of excellence in their sector, with the Fiesta ECOnetic a car that particularly impressed.
This is due to the low levels of carbon dioxide it generates of 98g/km, which is the smallest of all the cars available to motorists in the family car sector.
George Emmerson, the chairman of the judging panel, said: "The new Ford Fiesta is a worthy winner in a fiercely competitive sector.
"Many fleet managers are actively downsizing vehicles in their choice lists and employees are looking for quality, attractive looks and competitive whole-life costs and the new Fiesta easily meets all these criteria."
The Fiesta ECOnetic has reduced its carbon dioxide emission figures through "smart ideas and clever refinements", according to Ford, rather than having to rely on different fuels or being run via a battery.
A travel agent has won a brand new Ford Fiesta because of her strong efforts in ensuring customers book to go on holiday.
Laura Sidebottom, who works at Classic Collection in Worthing, scooped the vehicle after registering the most bookings for airline Jet2.com and tour operator Jet2holidays.com in the first quarter of the year.
Ms Sidebottom made 171 bookings between January 1st and March 31st, with prizes also on offer for those who finished as the runners-up.
She said: "In turbulent times like these, it’s great to have such worthwhile incentives for travel agents.
"The industry is proving difficult at the moment, but when you know a car is up for grabs, it really motivates you to get selling."
Furthermore, the Ford Fiesta was given two accolades at the What Car? 2009 Awards – the Car of the Year 2009 and the Best Supermini.
Meanwhile, it also comes with a range of features and specifications including a quick-clearing heated windscreen for icy days and a fuel system that fails to allow the wrong fuel to be put into the vehicle by mistake.
Motorists with a keen focus on speed could soup-up their Ford Fiesta by buying a Mountune performance pack to add to their vehicle, it has been suggested.
Writing for Top Gear, Sam Philip states that the pack, which costs around £1,600, consists of a "big new exhaust system and a bunch of ECU tweaks", but does not have any impact on a driver’s warranty.
When supplemented to the Fiesta Zetec S fitted with a 1.6-litre engine, the pack adds 20 brake horsepower to the vehicle, enabling it to accelerate to 60 miles per hour from still in 7.9 seconds, two seconds quicker than when the pack is absent.
Alongside the extra speed, the pack also has additional benefits, according to Mr Philip, as it sounds "bloody marvellous", while handling well on the standard Ford Fiesta chassis.
Mr Philip does remark that there is a lot more potential in the Mountune, with a "hot" version similar to the upcoming Renaultsport Clio touted as sounding like a model that could unlock the hidden talent.
Alternatively, motorists could choose to buy a Fiesta under the ECOnetic umbrella, which offers a fuel economy of 88.3 miles to the gallon on an extra urban cycle.
With Ford Dagenham responsible for producing engines that go inside vehicles such as the Ford Fiesta, it has been revealed that the plant’s production rate has exceeded one million a year.
In 2008, the 475-acre complex on the Thames produced 1,050,000 units, with these ranging from 1.4-litre cylinder engines to 3.6-litre V8 offerings.
This figure was 16 per cent higher than 2007, with the rising demand among motorists for diesel engines believed to be among the chief reasons for the increase.
Now, in its 80th year, the venue has the capacity to manufacture 1.4 million engines a year thanks to an £800 million investment, with 4,000 people currently employed at the site.
Dagenham plant manager Dave Parker said: "Today we’re at the centre of Ford’s fuel efficiency drive as exemplified by the 76 miles per gallon diesel engine supplied for the new Ford Fiesta.
"Ford Dagenham has a rich manufacturing, economic and social heritage, which has provided the foundation for its competitive position today."
According to Ford, "the new Fiesta is a vivid expression of all that is inspirational in design today".
The popularity of the Ford Fiesta played a pivotal role in the manufacturer increasing its share in the April car market, it has been revealed.
Compared with April 2008, Ford improved its market share by 3.9 percentage points last month, with the brand holding 18.4 per cent of the overall registrations.
According to the Society of Motor Manufacturers, some 28,314 Ford cars and commercial vehicles were registered by Ford last month.
This was heavily aided by the Ford Fiesta, which sold 37.2 per cent more vehicles than in the same month last year, while the Ford Focus remained the top-selling vehicle overall across all manufacturers.
Nigel Sharp, Ford of Britain managing director, said: "Ford’s rising share in April has been achieved in the most challenging conditions of weaker industry demand and an unfavourable exchange rate.
"Ford has taken the position expected of a market leader by announcing attractive supplementary offers to help motorists afford safer, greener and more efficient new vehicles."
Among the features of the latest Ford Fiesta are the fitting of rain-sensing window wipers and Ford Easy Fuel, which prevents the wrong fuel nozzle being inserted into the car by mistake.
Vehicles from the Ford fleet, including the Ford Fiesta, are at the forefront of the battle to reduce carbon dioxide levels in cars, it has been stated.
Environmental website Clean Green Cars has revealed that the latest low-carbon cars from Ford have helped the manufacturer to lead the way when it comes to reducing the emissions of its fleet.
Among the vehicles to help in this mission was the Ford Fiesta ECOnetic, which generates CO2 emissions of 98g/km and allows a driver to complete 76.3 miles to the gallon.
Buyers of this car also get the added luxury of not having to pay any road tax.
Jay Nagley, Clean Green Cars publisher, said: "New car carbon dioxide emissions are falling at an unprecedented rate and Ford is more than playing its part.
Until last year, car CO2 output had been falling at less than two per cent a year. Now real gains are being made with advanced technology, as demonstrated by Ford’s ECOnetic range."
What Car? magazine voted the Ford Fiesta as the Car of the Year for 2009, alongside it being crowned the Best Supermini.
The Ford Focus remained the top selling car in the UK during April, it has been revealed.
Figures from the Society of Motor Manufacturers and Traders (SMMT) showed that last month UK car sales fell by 24 per cent based on yea-on-year figures, with only 133,475 changing hands.
This is the lowest level since 1991, while being the 11th straight month that new car sales have deteriorated.
However, the Focus remained the best-seller, shifting 8,974 units, which proved more than the Ford Fiesta, Vauxhall Corsa, Volkswagen Golf and the Vauxhall Astra.
Boss of the SMMT Paul Everitt stated that there is optimism that things will improve in the coming months, especially after the government recently announced the scrappage scheme incentive.
He said: "Industry is hopeful that its prospects will improve in the coming months and the steps it has taken will provide the basis for a sustained recovery once growth returns."
According to Ford, the latest Focus brings together a "striking exterior design" with "improved aerodynamic lines".
