New Ford Ka raises the bar with improved residual values

The all-new Ford Ka is set to raise the bar by improving its predicted residual value rating when compared to the previous model.

The news means that it should prove a popular and in-demand used car when it enters the used Ford car market.

According to data provider Cap Monitor, all petrol models of the new Ka are now valued at 39 per cent after three years on the road and 60,000 miles on the clock.

Martin Ward of Cap said: "The new Ford Ka is a brilliant small car which is coming to the market at the right time when customers are looking for economical cars that are cheap to run, fun and have great styling – it’s a superb drive for such a small car."

An added attraction of the new model is the fact that the insurance rating on the Studio version of the new Ka starts at 1E – the lowest rating there is.

The European version of the Ka is produced in Valencia, Spain and the all-new range is available now with prices starting from £7,945.

Ford reveals new Ka prices

Ford has announced the price list for its all-new Ka, which is set to go on sale in the UK in January 2009.

Prices start at £7,995 for the Studio, which includes Electric Power Assisted Steering (EPAS), a height-adjustable steering wheel, ABS brakes, front airbags for both the driver and passenger, a headlamp courtesy delay system and body-coloured bumpers as standard.

The Studio also boasts impressive music capabilities in the form of six speakers, a CD player, radio and MP3 compatibility.

Meanwhile, the Style model is due to be available from £8,495; the Style + will cost an extra £500 in return for air conditioning and a heated windscreen; and the Zetec will be on the market for £9,495.

"We’re really excited about the launch of the all-new Ka," commented Mark Simpson, Ford of Britain’s marketing director.

"It gives us a great opportunity to appeal to an even wider audience and keep the Ka as Britain’s top super-mini."

Ford recently announced a £70 million investment in its manufacturing facility in Bridgend, Wales.

New Ford Ka to star in next Bond movie

James Bond will have a hot new model to slaver over in his next movie, Quantum of Solace – the new Ford Ka.

The cheeky little vehicle will share screen space with its owner Camille, played by Olga Kurylenko.

Camille is the type of woman that Ford would build if they built women instead of cars – feisty and good in tight corners.

Gold-fingered Ford paint-sprayers have toiled for hours to give the new Quantum of Solace Ka its unique colour and after its screen appearance sales of the motor are expected to fly.

Arguably nobody does it better than Ford when it comes to building Bond-mobiles – the latest Ford Mondeo starred in the 2006 blockbuster Casino Royale.

It is now twelve years since the original Ford Ka entered the market and its makers will be hoping that its successor will repeat its impact.

Further technical details of the new Ford Ka will be revealed closer to launch later in 2008, while Quantum of Solace is due to hit UK screens on the last day of October.

Ford reveals new retro Ka

Automobile manufacturer Ford has given its Ka a new retro makeover.

The company is to reissue the vehicle in two-tone colours, with panther black, ocean, sea gray and a new colour, blazer blue, offsetting moondust silver mirror housings and bumpers.

Motorists looking to get behind the wheel of the model can do so this month when the model goes on sale for £7,995, while they can also choose from two trim levels – Style Climate or Zetec Climate.

However, drivers should be aware that only 1,000 units will be made available throughout the UK.

The model has been produced as the range celebrates its 11th year in production.

It is a three-door hatchback city car with a 5-speed manual transmission, originally designed as a smaller, cheaper alternative to other cars on the market.

Furthermore, the BBC’s motoring programme Top Gear awarded the Ka a Cool rating.

Ka-ligraphy allows drivers to express themselves

People who drive Ford Kas now have the chance to personalise their vehicle as the company is to launch exterior graphics this month.

Special images, dubbed Ka-ligraphy, allow motorists to decorate their cars from £49.99.

The 12 signs of the Zodiac are available for people’s car roofs as are black, silver and blue spoiler designs.

Drivers can also opt for an ‘I luv my Ka’ tattoo in six colours as well as butterfly transfers designed to show off their vehicle’s curvy body.

Those interested in sprucing up their Ka can do so in five to 30 minutes and can rest assured that they are warranted for three years once they are bought from a Ford dealership.

Popularity in car customisation has grown in recent years in part due to television programmes such as Pimp My Ride.

However, there has been a backlash against it, with an advert from Volkswagen depicting a modified Golf shedding a tear.
