Bentley has claimed that its Brooklands coupe, which was launched in Geneva in March, is "destined to become a collectors’ classic".
According to the automaker, the car is unique in its combination of "first-class luxury" for four adults with supercar performance.
The Brooklands’ cabin is described as "remarkably spacious", while on the outside the car sports a low roofline, raked front and rear screens and "muscular" contours that lend it a sporting stance.
Performance is delivered by a 530bhp, twin-turbocharged 6.75-litre engine, the biggest V8 ever built at Bentley’s Crewe plant, which reportedly delivers a higher torque output than any other V8 automotive engine in the world.
This setup, along with an enhanced chassis, enables the Brooklands to reach 60mph in five seconds and a top speed of 184mph.
Dr Franz-Josef Paefgen, chairman and chief executive of Bentley, said: "The interest in Brooklands since its unveiling in Geneva has exceeded our expectations. It is surely destined to become a collectors’ classic."
Lifetime production of the coupe has been limited to 550 cars, with the first customers on the order list receiving their model in early 2008.
While its name may be infused with heritage and history, the Bentley brand has sent a message to the automotive industry that it has not fallen behind the times, in the shape of the new Brooklands coupe.
The new car, which was introduced to the world at the Geneva motor show, represents a landmark in Bentley’s heritage as it features the most powerful V8 engine in the manufacturer’s history.
Acceleration matching that of a supercar and 530bhp are generated by the massive 6.75-litre unit, which functions with a six-speed automatic gearbox.
Inside the new car is hide-trimmed roof lining, aluminium pedals and a choice of woods and leathers to characterise the cabin.
There are also individual, electrically adjustable seats in the back which offer an abundance of head and legroom.
Bentley fans who are eager to get their hands on this impressive new machine will have to be quick, however, as when it is delivered early next year only 550 models will be available.
The four-seat coupe has been styled on the drivers at the renowned Brooklands racetrack of the 1920s.
Set for a roll out in early 2008, the Bentley Brooklands possesses a 530bhp, twin-turbocharged 6.75-litre engine, the most powerful V8 ever constructed.
The imperious vehicle also gives the driver a degree of flexibility, with a semi-automatic function allowing drivers to use a manual gear selection.
A luxury interior will also be incorporated within the new car, of which only 550 are to be rolled out, featuring a wood veneer and a leather hide.
Dr Franz-Josef Paefgen, chairman at Bentley, said that the new model had been inspired by "Bentley’s proud sporting pedigree".
He also said that the Bentley Brooklands captures the "style, power and splendour of that era [1920s]".
