A ‘car of the year’ poll carried out by MSN Cars has found the BMW 3-Series coupe to be the most popular model, with 23 per cent of the vote.
Two other German vehicles featured in the top ten list, with the Porsche 911 Turbo and the Audi TT voted into seventh and eighth places respectively.
Italy was the country to exert the strongest dominance on the results, however, with the Ferrari 599 GTB in second place, the Lamborghini Murcielago LP640 in fifth, the Lamborghini Gallardo Spyder in ninth and the Alfa Romeo Brera taking tenth position.
Completing the list were the Jaguar XK in third spot, the Mini in fourth and the Koenigsegg CCX, which was voted into sixth place.
Tom Evans, manager of MSN Cars, stressed the value of this survey as the votes are given by members of the general public.
"After two years where the winners were the brilliant but somewhat inaccessible Aston Martin DB9 and Bugatti Veyron, it’s great that our users chose the much more down-to-earth BMW 3-Series coupe – a car that many may end up driving sooner or later," Mr Evans added.
"It’s a cracking looking car, and great to drive too, making it a worthy winner."
