Audi has shown its new A3 Cabriolet model to the world, months before it hits the UK market.

The vehicle was revealed to the industry on Friday 30th November and is the third soft-top in the company’s range expansion plan.

It comes in four engine variants, two petrol and two diesel, all with direct injection turbo-charging units with front-wheel drive only available from launch.

Audi commented that the vehicle also benefits from improved safety, due to the way in which it is put together.

"The [model] will be available with either a semi or fully automatic hood specification while crucially for an open car, its advanced body structure features a high proportion of high-strength steel reinforcing measures," said the firm.

Audi has been distributing the A3 range since 1996 in three and five-door versions.

The vehicle has been assembled in Ingolstadt, Germany and Brussels in Belgium.
